Waukegan – In a show of party unity and friendship, Alderman Jose Guzman of Waukegan’s 2nd Ward, suspended his campaign and endorsed incumbent NSWRD Trustee Beverly Sugar Young for re-election.
A meeting was held at La Canoa Restaurant’s with Guzman, Sugar Young, a representation of party leaders and elected officials when Guzman made the official announcement.
“After thoughtful consideration, I have decided to step away from my candidacy for the North Shore Water Reclamation District,” said Alderman Guzman. “I want to share my full support and endorsement of Trustee Beverly ‘Sugar’ Young. Trustee Young has demonstrated strong leadership and a deep commitment to protecting our water resources and serving the residents of Ward 3 and the entire District.”
‘I appreciate Jose Guzman’s decision and I am honored by the confidence he has shown in my service through his endorsement,” said Beverly Sugar Young. ”He is committed to serving the people of Waukegan as Alderman and does an excellent job. I would also like to thank Fernando Bahena of La Canoa Restaurant for coordinating this unity gathering.”
3rd Ward Waukegan Alderman Juan Martinez who was part of the meeting said, “Although both individuals would have been excellent representatives for our county, I commend Alderman Jose Guzman for his gracious gesture and unwavering commitment to serve our City.”
Guzman will continue in his role as Waukegan’s 2nd Ward Alderman and serve those constituents and the city through his work on the city council.
