In the Highland Park City council election, two new challengers have won and will be sworn in this May. Jeff Hoobler and Yumi Ross have both garnered enough votes to win.

This was a particularly hard fought race with five candidates vying for three seats. Two incumbents, Anthony Blumberg and Adam Stolberg were on the ballot. The group of candidates included challengers Hoobler, Ross and Kelly Nichols.

Hoobler was the top vote getter coming in with 2780 votes. Next was three term incumbent Blumberg with 2483 votes. Not far behind is Yumi Ross who received 2412 votes. In what is described as an upset, incumbent Stolberg did not have a sufficient number of votes to return to the city council.

Much of the messaging involved in this campaign centered around change and that won the day. The voters of Highland Park expressed their desire for improvement and it is now up to the city council to deliver it.
