Libertyville Trustee Matthew Hickey Reports that Libertyville’s bond rating has been upgraded.

Congratulations to the Village of Libertyville on earning an upgraded Aa1 bond rating from Moody’s Investor Service

Thank you for this achievement first and foremost must go to the Village Administrative & Finance teams and to all the departments for their years of focused budgetary stewardship – all without sacrificing the quality of Village services.

A large debt of gratitude must go out as well to our former Mayor Weppler and immediate past Finance Chair Trustee Moras and other board members who made the hard decisions, set the path, and kept the budget discipline needed to reach this milestone.

This upgrade – one step below Aaa – will allow Libertyville to borrow money at a much lower cost which is incredibly important given our stormwater and other building projects scheduled to be bonded out over the next several years.

It was a long road getting here that began in 2010 when Moody’s downgraded the Village to Aa3. What an achievement – and what a nice early holiday present for our entire community.
