Lindenhurst – John Muellner has announced his candidacy for the Lake County Board 1st District seat. Long time member Linda Pedersen has stated she will not seek another term. Muellner is running as a republican and has her endorsement.

Lindenhurst resident Muellner began his career as an elementary and early childhood educator before becoming an educational administrator within the YMCA and YWCA. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Research, Analysis, and Educational Resource Development for a Diverse Society, and later received his Master’s in Public Administration from National Louis University.

According to his website, Muellner says is running on a platform of building a stronger local economy and offers that he will accomplish this by reducing red tape. The Lake County board does however only have jurisidiction in unincorporated Lake Countuy. Village municipalites are responsible for their zoning requirements which are established by their non partisan boards. Muellner is also dedicated to public safety and says he will work to ensure the Lake County Sheriff’s office has the resources they need. We applaud this given the department having to ship incarceratees to McHenry County and transport them back and forth to court appearances.

Pedersen said of Muellner, “he is the type of next generation leader we need on the Lake County board right now.”
