The Department of Justice released excerpts from the interview of Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell conducted by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. There is zero legal need or basis for this interview to have been conducted and Maxell made a shocking series of statements and claims which are utterly false.

Maxell has been investigated, charged and convicted in a court of child trafficking and child sexual abuse. In the course of the legal proceedings, Maxwell was also found guilty of perjury. Over 1000 underage girls were abused by Epstein and Maxwell in addition to participating in the abuse, she groomed and procured many of those child victims.

In the course of the “interview” Maxwell claimed, “I never, ever saw any man doing something inappropriate with a woman of any age.”

In reality, multiple victims testified that Maxwell recruited them and participated in the abuse. In spite of the reams of documented evidence in the Epstein files, Maxwell maintained she was unaware of any sexual contact between Epstein and minors or any other type of “non-consensual” sexual activity.

Maxwell spoke of Trump claiming that he was ”a perfect gentleman” and went on to speak of him is glowing terms for having become the President of the United States.

During the interview, she also claimed Bill Clinton was never on the island.

AG Blanche’s visit to Maxwell is unprecedented. He has no background in the case and was not accompanied by any of the prosecutors or investigators. This gave Maxwell free reign to make any claim without challenge. Typically someone such as Maxwell would only be interviewed if prosecutors were to gain testimony towards further prosecutions and the veracity of any statements would be carefully checked. That did not happen here.

Instead, Maxwell was moved to a cushy prison within a week of the interview. Trump also has the power to issue a pardon in exchange for her statements.

The Department of Justice released an official statement when Maxwell was convicted which is relevant here: https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/ghislaine-maxwell-sentenced-20-years-prison-conspiring-jeffrey-epstein-sexually-abuse
