Ivan and Jessica Tcholakov launch their dream business, bringing Kona Ice to Round Lake Beach with a ribbon cutting at the July 5 BeachFest

Round Lake Beach, Ill. — What began as Jessica Tcholakov’s first brand collaboration in her early days as a publicist has now come full circle in the sweetest way. She and her husband, Ivan, are proud to announce the launch of their very own Kona Ice business, bringing cool treats and tropical vibes to Round Lake Beach and surrounding communities with their new mobile shaved ice truck.

For Jessica, Kona Ice represents both a personal milestone and the fulfillment of a longtime dream. She began her career in 2011 as a publicist, with Kona Ice as the very first brand she ever worked with. “From the start, I was drawn to the joy, energy, and community spirit behind Kona Ice,” Jessica said. “Owning a truck has been a dream of mine for years, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support and partnership of my husband, Ivan. This is something we’ve built together, and I’m so proud of what it means for our family.”

Her husband, Ivan, who immigrated to the United States from Bulgaria at just seven years old, brings with him a deep-rooted appreciation for hard work, opportunity, and the promise of the American dream. For Ivan and Jessica, Kona Ice is more than just a business, it’s a chance to build something lasting for their family. Together, they see this venture as a legacy in the making for their three children: Chase, Khloe, and Olivia.

“This is about building something lasting, for us and for our kids,” said Ivan. “We’re excited to bring smiles to our community while creating something meaningful for our family’s future.”

To celebrate the official launch of their Kona Ice business, the Tcholakov family will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 5 at the kickoff of the Round Lake BeachFest.

Mayor Scott Nickles shared his excitement for the new business:

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Tcholakov family and Kona Ice to Round Lake Beach. Their story is one of dedication, community spirit, and the kind of entrepreneurship that makes our town so special. We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with them at the BeachFest.”

Known for its colorful trucks, tropical tunes, and delicious shaved ice, Kona Ice offers more than just a treat, it delivers an experience. With a strong commitment to giving back, Kona Ice also partners with schools, youth sports leagues, and local organizations to raise funds and support communities.

The Tcholakovs are looking forward to rolling out their Kona Ice truck and can’t wait to bring flavor and fun to events throughout the area.
