Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the roadway in the area of Helendale Road and Rollins Road, Ingleside, for a report of a child on the ground. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and determined the girl had been shoved out of a moving vehicle. She was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s detectives were assigned to further investigate. They determined the girl met Montreal M. Montgomery, 22, of the 3600 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, Chicago, on social media, earlier this year. Prior to September 1, Montgomery drove to Lake County to meet the girl on several occasions, and he eventually pressured the girl into a sexual relationship.

Montgomery obtained nude photographs of the girl, and he threatened to share the photos with others, should the girl not continue their sexual relationship. On September 1st, Montgomery again came to Lake County and picked up the girl. As he was driving, the girl pleaded with Montgomery to delete the nude photos of her from his cellular phone. Montgomery became enraged and pushed the girl out of the moving car and fled from the area.

Sheriff’s detectives located Montgomery on September 26, 2025, and arrested him. Sheriff’s detectives worked with Fox Lake Police Detectives, as one of the sexual assaults took place in Fox Lake.

After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the case, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges:

Two Counts of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 2 Felonies)

Two Counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felonies)

Aggravated Domestic Battery (Class 2 Felony)

Two Counts of Aggravated Battery (Class 2 Felonies)

Two Counts of Traveling to Meet a Minor (Class 3 Felonies)

Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “The actions of this offender are despicable and serve as a stark reminder of the real dangers children face on social media. It is imperative parents are very involved when it comes to who their children are communicating with online. I am proud of the swift work of our staff and proud of the collaboration to hold this man accountable. We wish the victim the very best in her road to recovery.”

Montgomery remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing this morning.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
