The Lake County Forest Preserve District is moving ahead with its second net-zero energy building at Lakewood Forest Preserve. According to County Board Member John Wasik, “It will produce more energy than it consumes and save taxpayers thousands of dollars on utility bills. We’d like to see more of these buildings (and homes) throughout Lake County!”

On June 14th, the county board commissioners will consider $4.8 million in contracts to fund a maintenance facility at the preserve. Contracts for construction management and architectural/engineering services will also be reviewed.

“Our board is committed to zero-impact facilities and leading the way for a more sustainable future,” said County Board Member Gina Roberts.
