This morning, the Gurnee Police Department received a report of a bear being sighted in the area of Grand Avenue and Hunt Club Road. Officers went to the area but could not locate a bear.
There is a wooded area directly to the north along with farms. Not far to the east, there is a vast wooded area extending all of the way to up to Wisconsin. Bears have also been known to travel for hundreds of miles. A motorist captured video of the large black bear crossing Westbrook Lane by Hunt Club KinderCare.
Just the same, vigilance is warranted. If you see a bear, stay well clear of the animal. Contact the Gurnee PD at 847-599-7000 ext 0.
