According to reporting, Highland Park Police said that at 2:30pm they received a call regarding bicycle rider having been hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Deerfield and Piccadily roads and the driver had fled after the incident.
The bicycle rider is reported to be a female and her identity has not yet been released. She was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and pronounced dead. An autopsy is to be performed by the Lake County Coroner.
The area had been blocked off as the The Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County conpleted their investigation.
At this time, no information about the driver or vehicle has been released, and no one is in custody.
