To the Editor: Ann Taylor’s Bizarre Direct Mailer Plot

To The Editor,

I found many of your articles pertaining to Waukegan Mayor Ann Taylor to be one sided. Here is an example.

So what if Ann’s husband put money up for a mailer attacking Keith Turner? Wayne was engaging in free speech. You made it look like some sort of Nixon era scandal. Besides that, Keith Turner deserved to be attacked. Also, she balanced the budget. You claim a 7 million dollar short fall, but that money was paid for out of another account.

Do better.

The Waukegan fiscal year 25 budget was not balanced as we reported. The official budget document cited the $7 million dollar shortfall. Per the GFOA, a structurally balanced budget is where recurring revenues are sufficient to cover recurring expenditures. Paying for a shortfall from other accounts is inconsistent with practices and does not meet the definition of a structurally balanced budget.
