WAUKEGAN, Ill. — Two men were arrested after being accused of killing a man and woman at random in a crime spree that started in Chicago.
Officers responded to the 400 block of Powell Avenue on Feb. 24 and found Rodrigo Olivan, 28, and Ana Gil, 24, suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to police, Olivan and Gil were targeted at random by Ishawn Pitts and Tylo Eddins.
Earlier in the day, police allege Eddins carjacked an Uber driver in Chicago at gunpoint and left the driver near an expressway ramp.
He then allegedly traveled to the 500 block of South Genesee Street in Waukegan and robbed a person of $20 at gunpoint. Police said Eddins then picked up Pitts in the stolen Kia.
Eddins and Pitts then allegedly took part in the aforementioned killings of Olivan and Gill on Powell Avenue.
After their slayings, the Kia crashed into a fence in Zion and the pair allegedly fled the scene.
Pitts was taken into custody on Feb. 29 for an aggravated battery warrant out of Round Lake.
Police said he confessed to the shootings and was charged with first-degree murder.
Eddins allegedly fled Waukegan shortly after the homicides. He was arrested in Killeen, Texas and is facing six counts of first-degree murder. Eddins is currently waiting extradition back to the area.
