Thanks to the emergence of a warm weather front moving in from the west, the heat inversion that was trapping smoke filled air from Canada is abating. Data from the Illinois EPA shows pollutant levels in Lake County have moved below 150AQI. This is currently better than the previous 250AQI, yet still unhealthy for sensitive groups.
It is expected that by the weekend, the smokey air will be ushered out.
