According to reporting, a suspect in Fox Lake was shot by police after he lunged at them with a knife. A bystander was also hit by the small arms fire.
On Sunday night, Fox Lake police responded to a call of a man damaging a vehicle and throwing a golf club at someone. The officers arrived to the home at 11:10pm.
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force said in a statement that the man lunged at the officers with a knife as they attempted to place him under arrest.
The 47 year old man was shot by the responding officers and pronounced dead by paramedics. A 43 year old woman was also hit in the leg, but wounds were described as not life threatening.
The identity of the man has not yet been released.
