Two cases of measles have been reported in Illinois, marking the first time the virus from the recent outbreak has made it to our state. The Illinois Department of Public Health confirmed the two cases both of which where found in Cook County.

One of the cases involves an adult with an unknown vaccination status. The suburban Cook County resident was admitted to a hospital on Monday according to officials.

The second case is a Chicago resident who traveled internationally in April. The person had gone through O’Hare airport. That individual is reported to have had a single dose of the MMR vaccine.

The Illinois Department of Public Health released a set of times and locations where others might have been exposed:

– April 21: Chicago Public Library – Independence Branch, 4024 N. Elston Ave.
– April 21: Fittingly Delicious, 3939 W. Irving Park Road
– April 22: O’Hare airport, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., especially Terminal 1
– April 23: O’Hare airport, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., especially Terminal 1
– Friday: Aldi. 7235 39th St., Lyons, between 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
– Sunday: Shell. 3901 S. Harlem Ave., Stickney, between 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
– Monday: Mobil, 2945 S. Harlem Ave, Berwyn, between 10:20 a.m.-1 p.m.

It is recommended that people check their vaccination status and talk to their primary care provider.
